Business, Marketing, AI, Content Strategy
Let's face it, everyone is using AI. I even have to get on my son about using AI for school because it will stunt his growth of being able to think and write for himself. So I am not surprised about the comments that I see on social media how everyone is starting to sound the same. Why is this even important....because you want your brand voice to stand out and not blend in with the crowd. Being authentic will give you that competitive advantage.
Whether you like it or not, AI isn’t going anywhere. Gartner expects worldwide AI spending to hit around $2.59 trillion in 2026, with nearly half of that going into infrastructure like data centers and AI-optimized chips. The big wigs are investing their dollars on automation and the speed of advancement is kinda scary.
Generative AI has gone mainstream. Stanford’s AI Index reports that most frontier models now match or beat humans on tough reasoning and coding tasks, and four in five university students already use these tools. In other words, “I used AI to write this” is no longer a flex. It’s the baseline because I did use AI to help me write this article. Mainly for research purposes because who has time to look all this stuff up?
For online business owners, that creates a weird tension. Yes, you can publish more and faster than ever. But so can everyone else. The latest AI trends are giving every one the same access to the same information to create the same generic content. That’s exactly why your authentic human touch to content is priceless when leveraged correctly.
When people say “human content,” they don’t mean “never touch AI again.” They mean content that clearly comes from a real person with real stakes, not a prediction engine guessing the next word in a sentence.
Specific, lived experience: “Here’s exactly how I handled a launch that flopped” beats “5 tips for a successful launch” every time.
Clear points of view: You’re willing to say, “I disagree with the standard advice, and here’s why.”
Emotion and vulnerability: You talk about fear, doubt, and messy behind-the-scenes moments instead of just highlight reels.
Real names and faces: Customers, team members, your own story — not anonymous “users” and “case studies.”
AI is only as good as the prompts that you give it so it can remix what already exists out their on the internet. Your authentic human content creates something that didn’t exist before: your unique angle, your phrasing, your “this is how we do it here” philosophy. That’s what people remember, quote, and share.
AI isn't new, its just new to the everyday person and recently it has been maturing FAST. Deloitte found that worker access to AI jumped 50 percent in 2025, and the share of companies with a big chunk of AI projects in production is set to double. Agentic AI systems that plan and act with minimal human input is growing more than 300 percent year over year in some reports.
So what does that mean for you???? More opportunities for you to automate things in your business: scheduling, formatting, basic copy, even first drafts of emails or ad variations. But here’s the thing: as AI systems grow, trust is getting weaker. Stanford’s 2026 data shows AI incidents and misuse are rising, while only about a quarter of organizations have mature AI governance in place.
Don't think your customers aren't going to notice. They’re starting to wonder, “Who actually wrote this? Who’s behind this brand? Can I trust what I’m reading?” In this environment, the businesses that win aren’t the ones with the most AI. They’re the ones that make it clearest there’s a real human being taking responsibility for what’s being said and sold.
Now let’s connect this directly to your marketing. AI can help you create more content, but quantity isn’t what moves things forward anymore. Relevance and resonance do.
Email and funnel copy: AI can draft, but you add the real stories, objections you’ve actually heard, and phrases your customers really use. That’s what makes people reply instead of ignore.
Social content: The posts that go viral aren’t the perfectly polished carousels; they’re the “here’s what I learned the hard way” threads and raw behind-the-scenes reels with your occasional misspelling.
Sales pages: Templates and AI can structure them, but your unique beliefs, client anecdotes, and specific promises are what convert.
The big marketing trend for the next few years isn’t “more AI.” It’s “AI plus an authentic human voice.” The brands that treat AI as a creative assistant and keep humans as the creative director will stand out in feeds full of same sounding content.
You don’t have to choose between all or nothing when it come to AI. Instead, decide what AI is allowed to do and what stays in your authentic voice. I mean you can train it to write in your authentic voice if you really wanted to. When I first started writing my emails in AI, I asked it to write in the voice of Tyra Banks and then I would adjust it to sound more like me. I hated the robot sound it gave off. So here is what you need to do:
Use AI for structure, keep humans for substance. Let tools outline blog posts, generate headline options, or suggest email subject lines. But fill those outlines with your own stories, examples, and opinions. If a section could appear on any competitor’s site, rewrite it in your own words.
Build a “voice bank.” Keep a running document of phrases you say a lot, client quotes, metaphors you love, and strong opinions you hold. When AI gives you a bland draft, level it up using this bank so your content sounds like you, not like “the internet.”
Show your face and process. Pair AI-assisted written content with human-led videos, live streams, and voice notes. Let people see you thinking out loud, making decisions, and sometimes changing your mind. That’s hard to fake and that’s the whole point.
Turn data into stories. AI is top tier at surfacing patterns...top-performing posts, best-converting emails, most common customer questions. Your job is to turn those into narratives: why those patterns exist, what they mean, and how you’re responding as a business.
As AI infrastructure scales into the trillions and tools become cheaper and more powerful, the “what” of your business will be easier to copy. Your offer, your funnel, even your website layout can be cloned in a weekend with the right prompts and templates.
Like we say in my sorority..."They can imitate but never duplicate."
What can’t be cloned is who is behind it all....your judgment, your ethics, your taste, your way of explaining things so they finally click for your audience. In the new content economy, that’s your real flex. The more AI levels the playing field, the more your humanity becomes your biggest competitive advantage.
So embrace the latest AI trends. Use them to save time, repurpose assets, and test ideas faster. But don’t outsource the one thing your customers are actually buying: a relationship with a real person they trust. That’s the part only you can create and the part that will matter most in the future of your business.
